Accumulation of Hours

  • Attendance will be taken at all Hort Club activities, but not all activities count as "hour" accumulation activities. Activities that you get hours for are: Greenhouse Work Parties; Plant Sales, including set up and clean up; Flower Arranging for an Event; Set Up, Clean Up and Manning Club Promotional Booths (does not include creation of booth.); and other miscellaneous promotional events that are not part of regular officer duties.
  • Activities that you do not get hours for are: Apple Pruning; Cider Press; Field Trips; General Club Meetings, and any regular officer duties.
  • On an individual basis, other activities may be voted by club officers to be an "hour" accumulation activity.
  • It is the members' responsibility to sign in at all meetings. Accumulated hours will be posted in the back of the sign in book which is kept in the west wing of the greenhouse.

How to Get Your Club T-Shirt, Cap, or Sweatshirt

  • After you have accumulated ten hours, it is your responsibility to notify the club secretary that you are eligible for an item of clothing.
10 hours = T-shirt or cap, or you can pay $10 for sweatshirt.
  • You can save all your hours until you get to 30, and get a sweatshirt.
  • All hours must be accumulated in one school year (Aug - Aug).

Field Trip Reimbursements

  • Field trip reimbursements are given at a rate of $15 per night for up to 3 nights per trip for required field trips in horticulture classes.
  • To be eligible for a reimbursement, you must be an active club member who has accumulated 10 hours.
  • An additional 5 hours must be accumulated for each additional field trip reimbursement.
  • If you do not have the necessary hours accumulated at the time of the field trip, you may wait until you do, and then ask for a reimbursement.
  • It is your responsibility to ask the club secretary for a reimbursement form. You must fill out this form completely, and return it to the club secretary before a reimbursement will be given.
  • All hours must [be] accumulated in one school year (Aug-Aug).

Scholarships

  • Scholarships will be given to club members who accumulate a minimum of ten hours of Club service. The amount of the scholarship increases with the accumulation of more hours.

Notes on Hours

  • All hours are zeroed out at the end of the school year. The first ten hours you accumulate can count towards your T-Shirt, Field Trip Reimbursement, and Scholarship. Hours you accumulate after that will also be counted towards all uses.
