The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture is in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). The department has fully integrated programs in teaching, research, and extension. Our administrative office is located on the main campus in Pullman. Our faculty are located in Pullman and at the following sites:

Our Degree Programs

We offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in both Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, with options in Environmental Horticulture, Fruit and Vegetable Horticulture, and Viticulture and Enology. The WSU Horticulture program was recently ranked number 8 in the nation, with the Plant Sciences program ranked number 2 by a survey in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Read more »

Kathie Nicholson named 2009 ASHS Outstanding Undergraduate Student

The award officially recognizes exceptional undergraduate horticulture students in baccalaureate programs across the U.S. Congratulations, Kathie!

Students named ASHS Collegiate Scholars

The award honors the academic achievements of junior and senior horticulture majors from departments across the country. Receiving the award are seniors Gordon Goldner, Kathie Nicholson, and Jason Stout; and juniors Patrick Dorsing and Kyall Hagemeyer. Congratulations, students!

Extension program to receive award

Eradication of Invasive Spartina in Willapa Bay, a program led by Kim Patten (Hort, '84), a horticulturist at the WSU Long Beach Research and Extension Unit, will be one of two state programs to receive Western Extension Directors Association (WEDA) Awards of Excellence.  Spartina was a threat to the state's oyster industry as well as critical shorebird, waterfowl and salmonid habitat.
